Characterized as a House-Museum of Representation, it is a recreational, educational and cultural space, divided into several complementary sectors/areas that aim at preserving the "memory of the place", making João de Deus' life and work known, from a triple perspective: man, poet and pedagogue.

Reviving the memories and collective identity, in multiple activities, where education, arts and knowledge of the surroundings have a preponderant role, is the goal of this space that states itself as a centre of cultural dynamization of the village of São Bartolomeu de Messines.
