Portuguese Network of UNESCO Global Geoparks
Under the aegis of the UNESCO National Commission, on 30 June 2022, the Portuguese Network of Global Geoparks was created with a Coordination Committee. The Coordination Committee of the Portuguese UNESCO Global Geoparks includes, as full members, representatives of the UNESCO National Commission and representatives of each of the Portuguese UNESCO Global Geoparks.
Framed by the Statutes of the International Programme for Geosciences and Geoparks, approved by UNESCO's General Conference in 2015 through Resolution 38C/14, and in particular the provisions of point 4. 4 of the Operational Guidelines for Global Geoparks, the Portuguese Network of Global Geoparks and its Coordination Committee aims to deepen knowledge, exchange experiences and good practices among its members, promote greater coordination and monitoring of activities, as well as launch joint initiatives and advise aspiring Portuguese UNESCO Global Geoparks.
