Invited by the organization, Geoparque Algarvensis will be present at FIC.A, the first International Science Festival in Portugal, which will take place from the 12th to the 17th of October 2021 at Marquês do Pombal Palace and Gardens , in Oeiras. It will become a true national and global example of the celebration of science and knowledge with society. For 6 days, FIC.A will offer the public a pioneering programme, full of unique experiences in the fields of science, technology, culture and art.
In addition to an exhibition about the Geopark Algarvensis entitled "Let's be Geopark Algarvensis", we took to the FIC.A a show of the GeoPalcos Art. Science.Nature initiative that ran from May 29 to October 9, with a sound installation by Vasco Nascimento – “Montante”, a performance by the group "Ao Luar Teatro" with the animation "Caminhos da Terra" and also a round table with the theme GeoPalcos Art. Science.Nature: (un)probable connections in the Algarvensis territory with the presence of Cristina Veiga-Pires (Scientific Director of the Aspiring Algarvensis Geopark), Dália Paulo (General Coordinator of the Aspiring Algarvensis Geopark), and some of the intervening artists Miguel Cheta, Vanessa Barragão, Helena Madeira and Manoli Ortiz. The GeoPalcos initiative was conceived with the aim of enriching and stimulating the territory of the aspiring Geopark Algarvensis-Loulé-Silves-Albufeira, based on the collaboration and participation of the local population. In parallel, it is a challenge to artists and scientists to think of the territory as a place of creation, reflection, restlessness and amazement.
The FIC.A programme already exceeds 700 activities, 1000 hours between debates, lectures and workshops, exhibitions, shows, concerts, among other formats - and adds up to more than 100 speakers from over 25 countries. Participants will be able to enjoy the activities and events, regardless of their age and there will be opportunities of discovery for all ages.
Entrance is free, but it is necessary to book a general ticket for each day of the visit. There are also several activities that require individual booking. These activity tickets must be booked individually to guarantee your place.
