Ethnographic Heritage
The Band Museum is a collection of instruments and objects related to the more than centenary philharmonic band “Sociedade Musical e Recreio Popular de Paderne”.
The idea for its installation here arose when its headquarters were transferred to the building where the Casa do Povo (People's House) used to be, taking the opportunity to use the space, which still has Moorish features and beautiful vaulted ceilings.
The instruments used by the various musicians in successive generations, mannequins wearing the uniforms of the different eras, old photographs framed on the walls and the many trophies received throughout its glorious history, are part of the museum's collection.
A piano, a harpsichord and an accordion are some of the instruments that accompany the double basses, trumpets, trombones, clarinets and many others that enrich the history of this cultural collectivity, honouring Paderne and the Padernenses.
