Scope
This training course is organized as part of the implementation of the GEA - Terra Mãe programme in the territory of the aspiring Geoparque Algarvensis Loulé-Silves-Albufeira. The GEA - Terra Mãe program is the responsibility of the Portuguese Committee for the International Geosciences Program (IGCP) and aims, among other things, to promote the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs), demonstrating that through geosciences it is possible to promote sustainability and improve the well-being of communities.
Topics
The training covers topics promoted by UNESCO's scientific programs, focusing on the natural (geodiversity and biodiversity) and cultural heritage of the aspiring Geopark Algarvensis, including issues such as the 2030 Agenda and climate change, seeking to promote reflection on the role of Geoparks in implementing the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and in understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
The sharing of educational experiences completes the training program of this course, which, in addition to the theoretical content, includes a field trip for the practical application of the content covered, providing trainees with an experience in the territory of the aspiring Algarvensis Geopark.
