(Study to take place during the first semester of 2021)
Narcissus Willkommii (Samp.) is an extremely localized species endemic to the Barrocal Algarvio, with its only known population worldwide in the Ribeira de Quarteira, in the heart of the Loulé-Silves-Albufeira Geopark.
Bearing in mind that the Ribeira de Quarteira runs through the Escarpão Plateau, one of the 10 main geosites in the territory, it is foreseeable that in some of the places where Narcissus willkommii has several colonies, it may come under greater human pressure due to the increase in visitation to these spaces, Despite the fact that its greatest threat at the moment comes from the strong increase in reed beds on the banks of the river, it was considered extremely important to draw up a Management and Conservation Plan for Narcissus Willkommii, with the aim of implementing conservation measures that would benefit its conservation and even promote its population increase.
The study and inventory work on the existing colonies will take place during the first half of 2021, including the preparation of a monitoring plan and the presentation of intervention proposals that achieve the proposed objectives.
