The rock massif of Rocha dos Soidos stands out in the landscape for its prominent cliff at the top of an elevation culminating at 467 m, resembling the bow of a ship from which there is a panoramic view of Serra do Caldeirão mountain range. This relief results from differential erosion that carved the Hettangian clay-marl formations and the Volcano-Sedimentary Complex, highlighting a cornice of dolomites corresponding to a lenticular deposit of the Silves Group in the Amorosa area.
In this relief, there are some igneous rocks, which consist of essentially basaltic veins, whose formation seems to be associated with that of the Monchique Massif, while others probably correspond to synsedimentary, doleritic, post-Triassic flows, associated with the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province.
